Throughout my high school experience I have had the privilege of being part of the Visual and Arts Academy. During the last year of this program we were tasked with the opportunity to create a completely original project using any medium of our choice, I chose animation. To say I was way in over my head at the start of it all, is an understatement. Animation is hard and complicated but it is also my future career and honestly after finishing this project I am more sure than ever that I want to properly study this form of art as it is pretty amazing at the end of the day. When it came to my project there were a lot of highs and lows that all just added to the experience at the end of the day. My goal was to create something that I could have fun with and not worry too much about meanings and hidden themes. I worked on this for a total of 4 and a half months which I now know is not a lot of time when working on a big project like this. The entire animation ended up being just over 30 seconds long which again isn’t a lot but at the same time it contains around 280 individual frames through the span of 6 scenes. So although the finished product may not seem like much, a lot of work went into it and my time was used productively. If given the opportunity to change up my project I would have probably never done this but I don’t regret it either and I am proud of the work I did in the end as it strengthened my love, passion, and amazement with the world of animation.
